An extraordinary capture by international award-winning, South African wildlife photographer – Tim Driman. This photograph has been transformed through a specialised technique into a unique piece of art.

About the Shot

(*The African bush has its own “security system” in the form of numerous animals such as antelope, baboons, and monkeys which which will “bark” an alarm on seeing one of the predators. Then there are certain birds, who will always give the presence of predators away, by their excited chirping and calling. Even ubiquitous tree squirrels have a series of alarm calls, covering various predators. And then there are the giraffes, who stand high above the low trees, and stare continuously in one direction, and occasionally daring to go closer for a better look. All these signals serve to help us to know of the presence of predators, even though they may be unseen, at first!)

As we quietly drove through this heavily wooded area of Marula Trees (aka:Sclerocarya.birrea), I was aware of numerous warning calls, but could not see any predators in the tree canopy or on the ground, but unmistakenly, I could literally “feel” eyes watching me! Carefully scanning the canopy, I looked for ideal leopard resting branches, and there she was, a pretty young female looking down on me, from her secluded spot.
